Unity's band #'s are definitely messed up.

I cant say Im heart broken! It seems all the efforts to ban imports and affect people opinions have left no market for seal pelts. Way to go world!
While some will be out of a job, most us can live with that. With so many people collecting government assistance I personally dont mind these fellows being on it every spring!

There is actually a 4th nest box on top of a school on the east side of the river, north of Kodak.  No falcon activity ever seen there.

There used to be a 5th and a 6th at Kodak Park, but they were taken down when Kodak was destroying those buildings.

Beauty was seen at the Hawkeye nest box this past fall when Joyce and MAK were checking out things.  As far as I know, the only other falcon activity at that box was by a family of Kestrels that Kathy O, Larry O and I spotted one year.  Two adults and two fledglings.  They were having a blast.  I've seen Red-tail Hawks and Crows sitting up there.

Most of the Watchers will make periodic checks on the other nest boxes when they get a chance.  Just in case.

The Times Square and Powers Bldg nest boxes are way too close to ever both be occupied.  Both were put there to give the falcons a choice after we had to move the nest box from Kodak Office.  Times Square is definitely the better choice.  An unobstructed view of the river and the hunting is great.  Lots of Pigeons and other prey in the area.

As of the last time I looked, there has been no Archer sightings.  Last year when he came in, a new male, Mr T was seen on camera that morning and by the afternoon, it was Archer in the nest box.  No Watchers witnessed any battles, so we hoped that Mr T just high-tailed it out of Dodge.

Kaver on the other hand was pretty much like clockwork.  One Valentines Day he came in and he and his sweetie Mariah were seen tearing up the airwaves around the Kodak Tower and doing other things.  Hahaha!

@Penelope - You are welcome anytime!  We would love to have you join us!   wave

@Grotto - Change is what it's all about in the Peregrine world.  As much as we'd love to see things stay the same, with our favorite falcons, it never does.  I will embrace Unity and watch over her and her young IF she is to remain here.  I hope nothing but the best for Beauty and want nothing more than to see her healthy and released, but I so dread a territorial battle.  Even between Archer, if he returns, and the new Tiercel.  I've gotten more than a few gray hairs watching these beautiful birds.

Any more questions anyone?

U at nest

Making themselves at home, huh??

I have a question - why is it so difficult to see U's bands?    Is it because she is large, or more feathered?   Does she sit lower down on her legs?   Trying to figure it out.  She is a large bird!

Margaret - I think it's because she's all squatty and poofed up in the cold.  It is extremely cold up there right now.   I'm not sure how much bigger Unity is than Beauty.  We always thought Beauty was bigger than Mariah and Mariah was a big girl.  :-)

Another new pair interested in the nest!

Stashed prey they found?

What kind of bird is that laying on the deck??? Gone in next frame!  Shocked

birdgirl814 There are a ton of Crows on the TSB, including two on the Main Cam now.

Pretty sure that was a pigeon wing.

Nora, I cannot even imagine in my wildest dreams how horrifying it is to live through any tornado, much less a EF-5.

and I just heard that little Angel Babcock has passed away.   Fly free little angel.  crying

Patty, thanks for letting us know what was going on with you and Jeane.  So sorry to hear that Jeane's sisters home was destroyed by these horrible storms.  Thank goodness no one was physically harmed.  You two take care of yourselves.

Lizz, glad you were up here out of harms way.  Safe trip home when you do return.

Nora H, Sounds like your husband's cousin's property was hit hard.  Hope everything works out well for them.

These storms have been devistating.  If you're a member of this group and you've been infected, please let us know how you're doing.

Take care all and be safe.

Thanks Ei for updating the family tree.  It looks awesome.

The Ap is something that Jeanne asked me about awhile back and I brought it up at our Rfalconcam meeting.  Shaky jumped on it and walaaaa!

Thanks Shaky & Ei for figuring out how to do this ap.  It will be a very nice tool for those Watchers that have phones that can do aps.  A way to quickly check band colors and numbers to ID any falcons we need to ID.  Won't be me for awhile.  Maybe someday.   happy
