Happy New Year!!!

It's time for our 2024 Toast to the Falcons!

Shaky's chair arrives at 8:54 am. It was 28F.

The watchers are arriving. On her way, Carol P stops at the parking lot on the side of the Times Square Bldg and spots Neander on the SW corner of the Wilder Bldg.

The watchers gather at the entrance of the Blue Cross Arena on Broad St. We decided to meet at 9 am, which is a little earlier than we usually meet. It was bitter cold this morning.

At 9:30 am, we had some excitement!  The local pigeons were very agitated, flying this way and that. Dana called out that 2 falcons flew over us heading south. Soon after this, both Nova and Neander returned. They were tandem hunting. Nova came very close to catching a pigeon right in front of us, over the corner of Broad and State St. After missing the pigeon, they both zipped around the building in front of us. Nova landed on the SW corner of the Wilder Bldg and Neander on the Wilder Chimney. It was very nice of them to both join us!

Nova and Neander together on the Wilder Chimney.

10 Rochester Falcon Watchers were there to toast today. Shaky, Pat, Dana, Lou, Larry O, Linda K, Tim, Lynda, Joyce and Carol P.

Happy New Year everyone!

12/31/23 Falcon Pics and Observations

Last day of 2023! Happy New Year's Eve!

Neander arrived on the Wilder Chimney at 8:49 am.

I arrived downtown soon after this and spotted him on the chimney. Larry O was watching from the Court St Bridge and reported that Nova was on the TSB on NE wing ledge.

While watching from the TSB parking lot, I heard loud chirping from the Widows Walk. I'm pretty sure it was Neander and he was not happy with a falcon flying by, heading NW. He soon followed. Larry verified that Nova was still on the NE wing ledge.

Neander returned and landed on the SW wing ledge. Both Nova and Neander were on the Times Square Bldg when I ended my last watch of 2023.

Nova arrived on the Wilder Chimney at 12:59 pm.
