Gala to Feature Local Falcons in Photography and Art

For the second year, the Gallery at High Falls will exhibit art and photographs featuring the Peregrine falcons of Rochester.

There will be an opening night gala on Saturday, 28 June 2008 from 5:00-7:00 PM. The gala is sponsored by the Genesee Valley Audubon Society and the Rochester Falconcam. The exhibit will run throughout the summer.

We will showcase amazing photography by our local falcon watchers, along with sculpture, drawings and paintings by artists who love the Peregrine Falcon.

The gala is open to the public, and there’s no dress code — come as you wish. A $15 donation from our guests is suggested, and we’ll serve terrific hors d’oeuvres from the Triphammer Grill, as well as a cash bar featuring a selection of our great New York State wines.

We hope to see you there and we’re looking forward to another great opening!

-Jess

    Sounds great, I’ll be there.

  2. Debbie Key Says:

What happened to the cam? The picture is stuck and its not a good picture. It looks like Seneca is laying there dead – I hope not! Zephyr is also there.

  3. Debbie Key Says:

Thank goodness! She just raised her head. The other picture looked like her beak was straight up and she was laying flat out!

  4. ENB Says:

    She is standing!

  5. joan Says:

yes, it did look like Seneca was dead yesterday. Scared me too!
Today , Sunday at 10:08 AM she is up , out of the nest box and on the ledge . Go ,Seneca , Go ! Blessed be and soft landings !

  6. ENB Says:

@12:23 pm she is off the ledge and nowhere to be seen. Anyone else see her?

  7. Debbie Key Says:

I had been watching her most of the morning and she was on the ledge. The last I checked was about a 1/2 hour ago. I checked in around 12:30 and Seneca was gone. She finally did it! She has joined her family! I hope they have long fruitful lives! I wish the cams could catch a picture of, any of them, in flight! Thank you Rochester Falcomcam for sharing this wonderful experience with us! I have pics up thru today at http://albums.phanfare.com/KeyAlbums Falcon Cam Highlights to share.

ENB-I last saw Seneca on cam at 12:17 with her wings spread…then she was gone! I don’t see her in the playpen…she may be under the camera…guess we’ll have to wait for reports from the ground!

  9. Kathy V Says:

    She’s gone..I don’t see her..Seneca..will check later..horray………….

  10. Kathy V Says:

I must tell you though, I feel sad that they are gone, or leaving. We all waited so long for the season to come, now it is here and just about gone. Hope we will be able to check in next year. I hope they all are well and will find homes.

  11. ENB Says:

    To all the peregrines:
“May the wind be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face”

    Modified Gaelic blessing.

  12. Carol P. Says:

All is well. All 5 accounted for. Seneca is safely in the playpen. – Carol P.

  13. Diane H. Says:

Thanks for the post Carol P., wasn’t going to be able to sleep well tonight not knowing, especially with Miss Seneca new to the playpen and hopefully her other new surroundings.

  14. Debbie Says:

Caught a picture on the main camera 12:18 of Mariah on the ledge by the nest box, and she just seems so sad up there, with no more babies in the box.

  15. Kathy V Says:

Poor Mariah and Kaver, no more babies..it is sad..I hope they all are alright. Has anyone seen or heard anything about them? Are they near-by?

  16. ENB Says:

  18. Alison in Austria Says:

    Thank-you, ENB.
I noticed this morning that the powers-that-be also put a direct link to the Falconwatch reports on the home page at the bottom of the left hand menu.
Kathy V. no, no babies, a handful of demanding juveniles that require constant attention. Probably Mariah was back in the scrape for a little peace and quiet, Debbie:-)

  19. Kathy V Says:

Could anyone tell me who is lying below the box to the right..is the babe alright? I just checked at 3:30…please advise

  20. Kathy V Says:

This morning, early, I saw Mariah and Kaver at the box..they had their brealfast.

  21. Kathy V Says:

    I went back on..it was Susan B..I think..or am I wrong..I see a green tag.

  22. Joan McC Says:

Each year I follow the adventures of Mariah and Kaver, and each year I marvel at the beauty of nature, and what great parents they are, and how lucky we all are to be able to witness close-up this miracle of new life. Thanks to Kodak, and modern technology, and a horde of loving and dedicated falcon watchers for making this all possible. I wish many blessings and long life to our five babies, and pray we’ll be able to spend many more years with these beautiful birds.
