Peregrine falcons born in police custody after smuggling swoop

Eleven rare peregrine falcons were born in custody after police managed to stop a man smuggling their eggs out of the country.

Officers from West Midlands Police kept the eggs warm on a computer terminal (http://www.itv.com/news/2014-05-06/rare-peregrine-falcons-born-in-police-custody-after-smuggling-swoop/) at Birmingham International Airport until a police wildlife rescue unit arrived.

Eleven of the 14 eggs recovered (https://twitter.com/WMPolice/status/463762147730669568) by officers from the force's Counter-Terrorism Unit hatched.

The birds will now be returned to the wild.

That second pic with the two groups of four looks like they are gossiping in separate cliques!  ;D

Oh my Lord!  What a strange story, thankfully with a happy ending!  I wonder why the eggs were being smuggled out of the country. I also wonder if they will be returned to their own parents, and if their parents will take them in now that they've interacted with humans.

There is a lucrative market in the Middle East for peregrine falcon eggs.  This is not the first time it's happened over there.
