It looks like feathers preceded flight, and may have served to intimidate potential predators, startle prey, or attract a mate.  The Late Jurassic in China seems to have been a colorful time and place.

This is so cool!  I always refer to humingbirds as little T-Rexes.  Guess I'm more in that ballpark than I knew.   :happy:

This dino look a lot like a vulture in flight.
