Wishing everyone a warm, peaceful, and . . . yeah, FUN . . . holiday season! Title: Re: Birds build snow tunnels for FUN Post by: Carol P. on 23-Dec-14, 10:50:18 AM Very interesting behavior Dale! I would never have guessed that all those lines and tunnels in the snow were made by birds. Cool!
A very Merry and fun Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family also! Title: Re: Birds build snow tunnels for FUN Post by: Dot_Forrester on 23-Dec-14, 02:24:09 PM That was really interesting, Dale. :thanx: for posting it.

Title: Re: Birds build snow tunnels for FUN Post by: dale on 24-Dec-14, 11:37:06 AM It was birds, Janet. A youtube video of a crow using a plastic lid as a sled down a rooftop in Russia.
Love that crowboarding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dWw9GLcOeA&spfreload=10 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dWw9GLcOeA&spfreload=10) You can see a process going on, too: on one side of the roof it doesn't work; he/she figures that out. I once watched ravens or crows riding thermals off a cliff in NM. They'd just fly back up and ride it down again. Legs dangling. That's what clinched it.
