Very interesting behavior Dale!  I would never have guessed that all those lines and tunnels in the snow were made by birds.  Cool!

A very Merry and fun Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family also!

I know that Donna will be able to find it because a couple of years back someone posted about birds (or was it squirrels?) sliding down roofs for fun!  Fun being the operative word.   ;)

It was birds, Janet. A youtube video of a crow using a plastic lid as a sled down a rooftop in Russia.

Love that crowboarding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dWw9GLcOeA&spfreload=10 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dWw9GLcOeA&spfreload=10)

You can see a process going on, too: on one side of the roof it doesn't work; he/she figures that out.

I once watched ravens or crows riding thermals off a cliff in NM. They'd just fly back up and ride it down again.

Legs dangling. That's what clinched it.
