Title: Watcher's Weekend 2015
Post by: Dumpsterkitty on 24-May-15, 04:56:19 PM
Time to start thinking about Watcher's Weekend!

We usually try to shoot for 8-ish weeks old. This year that will be July 4th weekend so I would say that's out.

How does the weekend of July 11 & 12th sound for everyone? Corn Hill Festival again that weekend. No conventions that I can see.

Just getting the conversation started since many need to plan time off from work...

It looks like this will be the best weekend - July 11 and 12th - for Watchers Weekend.  Thanks Ei and Lynne for looking into the availability of hotel rooms.  Hope others can make it!

OK-chatted with Carol the other night & I think we should plan to start the gathering at the Rundell Library on the corner of Broad St. & South Ave. 8AM? 9AM? I know most of us will be out on the bridge earlier than that.

We will be tweeting & posting any changes in location, but I know some people can't access stuff on the road. Last year I set up an email account rfcwatcherweekend@gmail.com...if you might miss a tweet or post & you'd like to send me your cell number I can send a text if there's a change in location. Unless your # changed, I have Lukka, Bonnie, Lynne & Bob, Diana, Kat, & Kris G.

Still need to hear from Larry & Shaky...

Just as a heads up, I heard on the radio, there is some sort of family "dinosaur" event being held at the Convention Center on Fri, Sat & Sun. Hours are Friday 12:00-9:00, Saturday 10:00-8:00
Sunday 10:00-7:00

Since the juvies are spending more time in the gorge, I'm thinking a better place to gather would be at the west end of the pedestrian bridge. People can park on Mill St., Platt St., and Browns Race. Additional parking is available at the High Falls garage.

They seem to me to be around TS...FCT...WW in the morning & the gorge in the afternoon. Maybe start with breakfast by the Library & head over to the gorge once the sun starts beating us up.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Sorry for the change.  But, we thought it would be best to meet at the pedestrian bridge.  From there you have a wide view of the downtown area.  Hopefully we should be able to see them from there and of course it would be wonderful if they came into the gorge.  If they are hanging out somewhere, we can move to that location for a closer look.  We were also afraid that the dinosaur show at the Convention Center would cause a problem with parking on the Broad St Bridge.  Can't wait to see everyone!  The weather should be wonderful!

Thank you again, Rochester hosts, for a wonderful Falcon Watcher's Weekend.  It is always a pleasure to reacquaint with everyone.  So glad I got to see the Seneca Towers falcons!!  Pictures are coming.  On the way home I had an adult bald eagle flyover in Windsor and saw one of my juvie eagles making its way across the pond where it was raised.  It was a quick trip home.

Yes, pictures of Cadence on the rail are coming.

I'm home at last!

I got a bit sidetracked on the way out of town. MAK had left to see a friend and Joyce & I looked around Seneca Towers for a bit. She said she was going to cross the river to look from the other side & I was headed down toward home. I was going to swing through DT on my way through. I pulled into the brewery lot & there's Joyce! She had changed her mind.

So we went out on the pedestrian bridge & spotted a bump or 2 on FCT...so off we go to there! I spotted one heading west.  Then we found one bump...then drove around the tower and found 2 more bumps! Genesee was the most visible. Beauty & Cadence were hiding in the rafters. As we drove around we found Brian. Then back to FCT. I was glad we took the detour...I hadn't actually met Genesee this weekend except as 2 juvies talon tagging.

I had a wonderful time. So glad I got to spend time with everyone! Pictures to follow...
