the Beleef de Lente cams are already online.
This year are to be seen Little Owl Eurasian Kestrel, Eagle Owl, Great Tit, White Stork, Barn Swallow, Barn Owl and Nuthatch.

I had the barn owl web cam on and the female was just sitting there.  Well I went to another window and forgot that I had that cam on, and shortly after 11:30 pm eastern time, I heard a thump.  That's when I realized that I still had that cam on.  When I went to that window, it turned out that the male had shown up, and he proceeded to mate with the female.  So, the countdown to egg laying begins! 

Right now, Stone Owl in nest and Pigeon's outside nest looking in...I see a pigeon egg also. What's going to happen here soon?

The Stone Owl laid its second egg but if you look at the 2nd camera, there's an egg on the floor outside the box.  I just saw a Pigeon in this area and that egg probably belongs to her.  :o

Nooooooo! Get OUT!! That is one verrrrrry brave (read: Stupid??) pigeon!

The Owl was sitting on her eggs in the nestbox this AM calling out maybe for her mate while the Pigeon was standing by her egg looking into the nestbox at the Owl. Strange.  :confused:

The Stone Owl laid her 4th egg today!  :clap:  Hard to tell how many Pigeon eggs there are in the hallway-she's in front of the camera right now.  The 2 of them got into a little scuffle today-it's on the video. Another odd arrangement.  :confused:

Stone owl isn't the only weird cohabitation on Beleef de Lente.

It doesn't sound good for the Stone Owl today-

I did see her get out today and I see she's back.  The pigeon went ballistic but the Owl flew out through the hole real fast.  I do feel bad for them with both brooding eggs.  Very stressful for all parties and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Maybe the Owls won....they were just in Pigeon nest...picking at it.

I think so too.I saw the owl leave and the pigeon left too.,the pigeon is not a night-bird and I don't think she will be back this night ,but maybe tomorrow.I don't know if the owl damaged the eggs but she was picking aggressive more than once.It's sad for the pigeons,but they will find an new place to breed.Greetings Carla

I bet that's not a bad translation -- probably that's exactly what happened.

I must dig out a book I got about the Coto Donana in Southern Spain when we were doing some exploring there. I bought it specifically because of its hilarious translation into English. Translation notwithstanding, if anyone ever wants a springtime surge of birding, head straight there... or Majorca... Hmmmm - that has me thinking... We could all shoot down, have a splendid week of birding... and still be back in time for the hatching!

A quiet day incubation. A few skirmishes with the usual Pigeon Hole, but it seems that the slow owls in control and get the pigeons gradually give ground. Stone Owls that nest in more places with competition have, we saw again today during our field day. And of course there where the owl nest boxes have no interest in, for example because they have found another nice spot under the roof of a barn. And then benefit other birds of beautiful spacious closets owls. So we found a few boxes of Starlings and even great tits! Owl/pigeon

I think the pigeons are gone!

I saw the pigeon in the box today so they're still around.

In fact, it's there right now.

Stone Owl getting brave!

Haven't seen the pigeon today and dad just brought in...a worm. I thought she ate it but now I see it crawling around and some how got attached to her. When it tries to pull away, it's caught on her under side. I can see her butt moving when the worm pulls...(gross). It's a huge worm..you can see it in this pic. I outlined it in red. Yuck

You gotta check out this video of the Owls. They are learning how to fly and look how they try. Clever and funny at the same time.

The 1st video shows the male stone owl making 25 deliveries to the female in 45 minutes. Wow, he's fast and she must be full.

Well one stork didn't make it...mom or dad picked it up and dropped it over the edge of nest. You can actually hear the thud. I totally didn't expect this watching the 1st video. OMG, so sad.

and in the 2nd video he was alive yesterday. I think he got pecked to death by the other 2...as you can see from the video. :(

OK so now all the pigeon eggs have been consumed by the Black Bird thief. He not only stole 3 eggs but took the mouse that was in the foyer. Pigeons keep coming by to start trouble with the owls.

2 boys for the Stone Owls..1 weighed 151.1 grammes, (as they say) the other 131.1 grammes. 28 days old and will fledge in a day or 10, (so they say)  :thumbsup: I liked watching them, so tiny and adorable. Sad to see all these babies fledge. Where did the time go?
