Title: Blackwater NWR eagle & osprey cams

1/25/16:
Egg Alert!
We have our first egg of 2016! We have noticed that the mother has been leaving it exposed a good bit. We're hoping this is just delayed incubation, which the parents sometimes do with the first egg to ensure the eggs hatch closer together. If another egg is coming, it should be here in about three days.

Still one egg so far. Since yesterday, the egg has been incubated more or less full time. Hoping for a second egg, perhaps today.

The second egg has arrived for the Blackwater pair!

Can't post pic; PB is down for maintenance.

From what we can tell, it appears the eggs were left uncovered the entire evening and are now no longer viable. We saw two adults on the nest together as recently as Monday, but a cam watcher did see images (! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmzCDq6ra90#)) that seemed to indicate an intruder around the nest. We'll update the web log on Wednesday night.

At least there's still time to re-clutch...bad luck at this nest the past few years... :crying:
