Title: I found this pigeon Post by: Aafke on 07-Mar-10, 03:30:23 PM Yesterday when I was outside, I saw something strange. I walked closer and closer. At least I saw the head of a pigeon on a body what looks liked it was only a half part. And lots of feathers everywhere. I thought that it was impossible that this pigeon could survive. But I couldn't let him die there. With some help I put him in a box. Everybody needs to have a box in their car for moments like this. I drove very fast to the bird shelter and look when they took him out the box he looks a lot better. It's a young pigeon, he lost lots of feathers and one wing was broken. 4 people :heart: came to help him, they were all very nice. They told me that pigeons can drop their feathers when they have extreme stress or when a cat takes them, it gives them a possibility to escape. Most of the birds that are taken to this shelter are pigeons, but they make no difference, they help every bird. I agree with you. I always carry a cardboard pet carrier in my car. I've had to use it twice now.
