Looks like we may have a pair interested in the nest! Talons crossed for a successful season. It's been a rough few years here...

I went back 2 years, what happened to the pair that were there? I know they lost some eaglets but what happened to the mom/dad??

I don't know that they know. The pair 2 years ago seemed to be young & left the chick exposed. Last year it looked like there was a nest takeover attempt. No way to tell if it was the same pair.

At the nest this evening:

I have followed this nest for a long time. I would love to see a successful year for this nest, with no intruder problems, no snow storms or ice storms, and absolutely no losses.  The last few years have been very difficult.

From the site today:

02/21/17:

We're still waiting to see if the eagle couple that is visiting the nest will lay eggs. They still have time, but we should be seeing an egg soon. In the meantime, we had an immature bald eagle visit the nest. This might be a bird that was raised at the nest in a previous season.

One day recently, I saw two eagles at the Blackwater osprey nest. They stayed for a very long time. One of the eagles left, but came back a few minutes later, and they sat close together for a while longer. I don't know if these eagles are the ones who have been visiting the eagle nest.
