I would love to see a successful year for this nest, with no intruder problems, no snow storms or ice storms, and absolutely no losses. The last few years have been very difficult. 02/21/17: We're still waiting to see if the eagle couple that is visiting the nest will lay eggs. They still have time, but we should be seeing an egg soon. In the meantime, we had an immature bald eagle visit the nest. This might be a bird that was raised at the nest in a previous season. One day recently, I saw two eagles at the Blackwater osprey nest. They stayed for a very long time. One of the eagles left, but came back a few minutes later, and they sat close together for a while longer. I don't know if these eagles are the ones who have been visiting the eagle nest. |
