Title: Hays Bald Eagles lose nest tree in high winds during storm
Post by: AlisonL on 13-Feb-17, 03:04:50 PM
The pair of bald eagles who nest in the Pittsburgh area above the Monongahela River have lost their nest, along with the tree which held the nest.

Last night, extremely high winds during a storm took down the birds' nest tree. The female had laid her first egg on Friday night. She was incubating last night when the tree came down. The egg was also lost.  :(

Fortunately, both eagles have been seen flying today and seem to be okay.

I saw this on fb last night. Didn't know they had an egg. It's not like they can just build a new nest as they make big ones and it would take a long time. Maybe they can find another nest already in place somewhere. What a shame!  :(
