Title: Why are things colored (lightning, butterflies, sunsets, etc.)
Post by: ezsha on 20-Apr-10, 11:19:59 AM
I stumbled across a fascinating link, Why are things colored? (http://www.webexhibits.org/causesofcolor/index.html) It explains the why of the colors we see around us (some of it scientific-y, but none the less fascinating for less technical inquirers). There's a clickable menu on the left-hand side - lots to explore! (I love the explanation about butterflies!)

It comes from WebExhibits (http://www.webexhibits.org/), which has several other fascinating topics to explore, including Calendars through the Ages (http://www.webexhibits.org/calendars/), Pigments through the Ages (http://www.webexhibits.org/pigments/), and Butter (http://www.webexhibits.org/butter/).

Ezsha, thanks so much for this link. I have been asking crazy questions (such as, how does a pet parrot make THOSE colors out of seeds?) about colors of things for a long time. This is very cool.
