Title: Iroquois NWR Eagles lose nest and Eaglet
Post by: Kris G. on 10-May-10, 09:59:25 AM
Just read this on Twitter-very sad as we've gone over there several times this year to watch the parents at the nestsite.   :crying:

High winds take down bald eagle nest at Iroquois Refuge, NY, sole eaglet perishes. Eaglet retrieved but did not survive.

Ahhhh, no.  That is so sad.  Kathy, Joyce, Brian H and I were there just a few weekends ago.  One adult eagle on the nest and one on the ground near the stream.  Definitely looked like there was a little one in there.  Darn.   :(

I just came across that Iroquois reserve recently as I was looking for a few new birding places while I am home. What a shame!
