Title: Cornell Webcams Post by: Gawoman on 20-May-10, 03:10:18 PM One website that I have found with a variety of webcams is the one run by Cornell U (which is probably the #1 research facility on ornithology). Well, some of the things they found in the early days of doing this have been fascinating. It is briefly documented here, in an article written in 2006:

The barn owls have had their chicks hatch in the last week, and around midnight a rat snake entered and the babies are no more. It is questionable as to whether the mama escaped. The notes written by the viewers is heartbreaking. This is just so heartbreaking....I knew I didn't like Ssss for a reason. Poor babies. My mom who lives in Fla. said she heard a commotion outside in the water, (she has a pond behind her house) and she saw the Alligator taking her Ibis that has been there every day, who just strolls along the edge. All of a sudden, around midnight last night, two owls appeared! So, the female escaped! Then they mated! So, things might turn out ok after all.
