It was south of Gaithersburg, MD - Helen, did you feel it? Paul - you guys feel it on your side of town. Anyway, lots of phone calls, but that is it.

Earthquake rattles Maryland early this morning Homes shake and wake residents up early morning Montgomery County, MD - The DC area and parts of Maryland have been shaken by a minor earthquake early this morning. The quake hit at 5:04 a.m. EDT and had a magnitude of 3.6. ABC2 News has been flooding with calls into the newsroom. We are a photographer out talking to people who felt the earthquake. A lot of people have felt the earthquake in Carroll County, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City. The quake was centered in the Rockville, Md., area said Randy Baldwin, a physicist with U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center. I was suddenly awake and heard what sounded like a distant explosion or sonic boom. However, distant explosions and sonic booms don't move my bed, or cause stuff to audibly shift. "Hmmm", I thought, looking at the clock, "0505, earthquake", and went back to sleep.
