Officials say the juvenile eagle was hit by a shotgun blast off Vermont Route 100 on Sept. 5. The bird is being cared for by the Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee. It is expected to recover and officials hope it can be returned to the wild. Vermont game wardens and special agents of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are conducting a joint investigation into the incident. The federal government is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for help convicting the shooter.
