Title: Re: Bugs, birds, butterflies, and Janet's garden Post by: valhalla on 05-Oct-10, 05:04:58 PM Thanks - it has been a LOT of time (remember me in the dirt back in April pushing the drain pipe under the concrete - I was the 3rd Little Pig) and effort, but we are very pleased with what grew and are optimistic about what will come back next year. The soil is clay, so I'll keep adding to it. I want to empty the compost bin and dump everything on top around Thanksgiving to let it soak into the ground over the winter. It can't hurt. I do think I'm going to put some hay down for nutrients, too. I'm so tired of yardwork that we are fleeing to NJ for the weekend and PIZZA!
