Title: "German" Osprey latest Malta casualty
Post by: Bobbie Ireland on 06-Oct-10, 05:40:12 AM
Apparently a rare migrant in Malta, this Osprey may be one of the lucky ones, after being rescued by the Raptor Camp volunteers.

Another link on this site points out that the extra police on duty are not there for the protection of the birds, but for the safety of BirdLife volunteers!

Now this is getting downright barbaric. That poor Osprey and a baby at that! We need a road trip to Malta!

I tell ya, I do not have the guts for that road trip. My admiration for the Raptor Camp people knows no bounds. (Having had the "odd" encounter here with some bad boys, I have to say they are mild-mannered, compared to those Malta shooters.) Best we can do is protest - and keep doing it! Letters, emails... the more voices are heard, the more likely it is that something might get done... some day... (Meanwhile, I trust that someone will tell me to "knock it off" if I seem to bang on about this topic.)

I say "bang" away Bobbie! I haven't seen or heard of any complaints. Life isn't always pretty but people need to hear of these outlandish killings. If the masses are uninformed how can they stop the few bad guys. Keep up the good work sister!

the only way to stop this is to hit where it hurts and since I can't really :viking: bobitize them even though I'd like to. It will take government sanctions and unfortunately it doesn't seem like the elected listen to the ones who elected them in the first place, so where does that leave us?
