Title: More bird-feeding ideas
Post by: Bobbie Ireland on 21-Dec-10, 08:35:49 AM
This RSPB website obviously mentions UK/Irish birds, but I think it translates well to other wintry locations. Here, we are getting another Arctic blast, so feeding the birds is a top issue and is being mentioned on most radio programmes today. We managed to get down our hill today for The Big Shop, but had we waited longer, we would have been sorry! Where's that Irish snowplow and the guy with the shovel?!

Was watching BBC news last night and the reporter from here was stuck in England and may not get home for Christmas. You guys are getting hammered. Poor birds, I feel so bad for them. Aafke said she's getting snow, snow and more snow. Whoa!

We are getting walloped here! The snow started coming down again last nite and by the morning we were covered...

Of course there was NO WAY I was driving in it, but My Hero (Rod) figured we could get to Wicklow to do The Big Shop, as conditions are meant to get even worse (the airport is closed again), and it looks like another 4-5 inches are expected. People are actually sleeping in the airport... sure am glad I am home!

Anyway, The Hero digs us out and I call Barbara (a neighbor up the lane), and she comes shopping with us too. Rod drops me off at the supermarket and takes B into WIcklow to get some stuff, then they swing back for me. I say "Hurrah!", because I will not have Rod on my butt while shopping... grabbing the cart, wandering off, asking endless questions. Well, I get 2/3 done and in he comes... grabs the cart, asks whether I have the asparagus - I tell him we are NOWHERE NEAR the vegetables yet... but he hogs the cart and keeps asking "Where to now?" I want to tell him "TO HELL IN A HAND-BASKET!" but I curb my tongue.

But we finish eventually - tho I do not have quite a few things I was going to do throughout the week. I swear to God - when and if this marriage ever ends, it will be at a supermarket!!

And THEN - now, here is the kicker! He rushes me, gets our stuff in the car, and then he SITS THERE as we have to wait for Barbara, which I SAID we would have to do!

Right - I feel so much better!

Other than that - we still have no tree... I hate to mention this.

Oh I feel for you Bobbie, my husband is the same way. I want the cart, he grabs the cart, I go get my own cart, he gets mad, don't need 2, (uh huh). I like to look, he gets what's on the list, he texts me, "let's go", no way, I'm not done yet. He's at checkout, I'm no where in sight. He texts me, "I'm leaving", I'm like (uh huh), I go to checkout, he's there, (with a look), I put my stuff on belt, we leave, get home, he say's "where's the creamer", I say, "you rushed me", won't get into what was said next!

Is this genetic? In their DNA? Like not asking for directions? Hey, Donna, does Rod possibly know Mr Donna??!! KINDRED! Why, I could be shopping with Mr Donna and not even notice the difference!

Ah ladies, I certainly can relate to all this.  But since mine has passed, I'd give anything to have this problem again.  Be thankful for what you have.

I'm so sorry.  :(  I'm sure you miss him dearly. My hubs and I still shop every Saturday together and it's always the same. If neither of us wanted to go....we wouldn't. It's just the way it is with us. OH and forget the Mall.....disaster.

Oh indeed, I am more than thankful! Maddening as he is, he is also, as my posting said, "My Hero"!

I hope you can remember the silly moments... I do.
