Title: Falcon Flakes New Year Tradition
Post by: Dumpsterkitty on 30-Dec-10, 06:58:21 AM
Would anyone like to join me for our traditional New Year's Eve Falcon chat?  I'm not sure what time I'll arrive, but I'll be bringing caffeine free Pepsi for sure!

Of course you can join us Bobbie!  See the chat button up above?  Click it and you're there!  This is a virtual NY party!  The folks on the ground do the traditional first falcon watch with a dram of (blackberry brandy I think?) a bit later in the morning!

So, whatever time is equal to 11:30pm or so eastern US time pop on in!

Yes!  The local Rochester Falcon Flakes will be meeting on the Broad St. Bridge at noon on Saturday, for a toast to a successful 2011 Falcon season.  Please join us if you can.  This is a yearly tradition.

Hmmm, maybe we can talk Shaky into pointing Camera 1 at the bridge for a few moments on Saturday if he's around.

I will try to make the chat for awhile tomorrow night with Justice and Lucky.  Lucky just loves to tell his tail of his flight from Rhea Mae!   :newyearbd: :yippee: :dance1: :cockatiel:

A virtual party? Oh my! I can wear my jammies! And if you think I will be awake when YOUR New Year comes in, you are crazy, as I will not be awake for OURS!

Blackberry brandy? Eeeee-uuu! A similar thing in our family is the plum wine... we always get together on Christmas Eve with my Dad, all the siblings, their kids, and their kids... and we do a huge Chinese take-out. One year, when The Brother and one of the nephews went in to the takeaway, the person at the desk went into the back shouting: "Beeeg ordaaah! Beeeg ordaaah!" Since we, on our very own, had taken their business into the black, they gave us bottles of plum wine. The Brother has been fermenting these in his basement ever since.

So... along with the mandatory watching of "A Christmas Story", we all look forward to taking part in the "Beeeg ordaaah"!

If my brain is working and I remember to check,I will drop in for a chat. I'll likely show up while someone is still vaccumming the room, before the party starts.

I'll be the one in the jammies... all wrapped up in a nice blankie and asleep in the corner...

I will plan on checking in as well, but won't stay really late, as I have to work in the AM.   I'm delighted that it's reached "traditional" status  :yippee:
And... I won't be drinking ANY Pepsi products, as I no longer support a company that is giving a quarter of a million dollars to H$U$, a fraudulent "charity" that uses less than one half of one percent toward animal welfare, and the rest to political donations and its own salaries and huge pension fund.

Does anyone know if Rochester is doing fireworks this year? I can point the cameras at the show.

Yes. 9:50 to 10:15 p.m. (Outside the Convention Center, overlooking the Main Street Bridge
We'll move outside the Convention Center at 9:50 p.m., to view the City's spectacular fireworks finale - the largest show in Rochester - which will close out the evening with a BANG at 10 p.m.

The Haggis hunt goes on for a bit longer...

"The hunt begins at 12 noon on St Andrew’s Day, 30 November. The hunt ends at 3pm on Burns’ Night, 25 January."

I just spotted one in Times Square NYC
