Is this a hawk? I thought maybe an Owl! He said it made a horrific sound! I blew it up a bit. Not sure what it is!

Check your email Bobbie.

OK so can anyone ID this bird??? I haven't a clue. He said it had a huge wing span, so I was thinking OWL. I wish he went in front and took the pic. I told him a video would have been better, he said, I'm old and wasn't thinking!!!

Not that I have a clue about ID... but this comment about a "horrific sound" does not make me think of a hawk. Correct me here... but don't they usually make high-pitched "kee-kee-kee" sounds? I always think these are quite delicate sounds, in spite of their power, size (in some cases) and strength.

That's my two-cents-worth. No - wait - this is Ireland, and we are broke... so that's my 648 Euros' worth...

Yes, he said it was more like a scream not a squeak toy as I call a hawk when perched making noise, that I only saw once and it was in Rochester!!! :) Then again, we are dealing with muscles and no brains!! Kidding!!

The only raptor I know of with an impressive "scream" is the Red Tailed Hawk. I'd never think of it as "horrific", though.  To me it's one of the best sounds made by anything.

I agree Paul but my brother has no clue what a raptor sound like. I think it just scared him as he never heard one before. This does not look like a RTH.
