Title: Rare Townsend's Solitaire Visits Strafford, NH Post by: Donna on 21-Feb-11, 06:32:48 AM New Hampshire is home territory to some 250 species of birds that breed or live here for at least a part of the year. Townsend’s Solitaire is not one of them. In fact, the Townsend’s Solitaire is such a rare East Coast visitor that it is not even listed in a number of popular eastern bird identification guide books. Reports of a Townsend’s Solitaire in Strafford, New Hampshire this winter have, therefore, had New England birders flocking to the Hill Library hoping for a good look at Myadestes townsendi.

This little guy is less than a half hour away! I think I;ll keep watching the birds in the back yard for him. I see a couple here and there I really can't identify because they move so fast!
