Title: Illinois Peregrines
Post by: Shaky on 11-May-11, 07:50:06 AM
Nancy Shack posted this on kfalconcam. We already knew about the Evanston falcons, but I don't see any topics here about the other Chicago webcams.

This is a link to a story that the local ABC affiliate in Chicago ran on 5/9.
It's a short segment on Chicago peregrine falcons and has some nice video of
falcons. It includes an interview with Mary Hennen, director of the Chicago
Peregrine Program. The transcript of the segment is included on the page:

I believe that Stephanie Ware, who works with Mary at the Field and has kept this wonderful Chicago peregrine site http://peregrines.erinyes.org/ (http://peregrines.erinyes.org/)  is now doing the page for the Field instead. I thought I posted about that a while back. It's definitely peregrine-dense here, as if they know it's the city bird. I live about 1.3 miles from one scrape, 3 and 4 miles from two others respectively (the farther one being the Uptown birds). Not being a TV watcher, I wasn't aware of the ABC news thing - thanks!!  By the way, those drawers at the Field are one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Last year at the watcher orientation at the Field, Mary let us examine the skins and eggs they show on that video. Here's a link to my photo album of the Field Museum peregrine tour we had in 2008 - if you didn't see it, there's really cool peregrine-related stuff here. http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee (http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee)
