With falcon pair lying low, some watchers fear worst Observers of Fort Wayne’s peregrine falcon pair hope the longtime partners’ era hasn’t passed, but many fear the worst. Since 1997, Roosevelt and Freedom have nested at One Summit Square, in a custom box built five years before by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. At 26 stories high, about 400 feet above ground, the falcons’ are afforded privacy – as far as they know. One of the pictures mentioned Bandit and Freedom-- are they related to one of our bird's mates??? Was it our Freedom's mate??? I don't have time to browse the family tree right now, but I think the relationship is to Beauty (and Unity-haven't even started on her family tree)-I'm thinking Erie (Beauty's father) is a brother of Roosevelt. |
