I don't really know too much about shore and water birds. That's the great thing about our forum...we're always learning stuff! The lake is rimmed with mountains, so the calls echo at night. It's a wonderful effect. We think the pair has two chicks this year.

My brother camps at Fish Creek in the Adirondack mountains every summer(he just started his 2 week stint today) and they have Loons there on the lake. It's such a comforting sound to hear. I was fortunate to hear them once while visiting many moons ago. ;D
