Hello everybody
I'm back  with a few pictures from my garden. They are all from yesterday, so you can see there is still a lot in bloom.

It's nice to see all of you. I'm very sorry about "Irene". I followed it on the newsand here on the board.

Probably I have to make the link smaller but I have no idea how to do it.

It's about time! Glad your back and you better be this time! Love your garden, always did. You put so much time each year into your pride and joys, from start to finish. Then in Nov, it all has to come down. What a way to come back Aafke, so colorful. Thanks again and welcome back, my friend!

Hahahahaha! Aafke, you are an inspiration!!! All we got were a few potatoes and onions... I am blaming the 'Irish Summer".

Thanks Aafke, the flowers are beautiful, and I'm envious of the vegetables.  I finally gave up on growing tomatoes because of our wildly abundant squirrel population, which results in my not getting to eat a single tomato.

Welcome back, Aafke; you've been missed.  I am drooling at your tomatoes.  Our home gardens have produced very little this year, due to the excessive heat -- so many days when the temperature has been over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (that's 32 C) that the plants have had few flowers and set almost no fruit.  Now that the weather is a little cooler we're seeing a small recovery.

Your flowers are beautiful.  What refreshment for the eyes.

Very beautiful pictures!  Some of the flowers I have around my yard but a lot of them not!  It makes one smile to see such beauty and around here the honey bees are so happy!  Love the veggies too, our garden is on it's way to being done.  Not ready to give up the fresh tomatoes yet!  thanks for taking the time to share those pictures with all of us!   :thumbsup:

I took these pictures last night with 85+ moon flowers in bloom!  The smell was heavenly!  Would LOVE to bottle that!

They are beautiful Annie. I remember when I was in Florida visiting, going out at night just to see such a sight! Very cool! Thanks

I can't wait to take some seeds to Bonita Springs this year and plant them around our place.  I KNOW they grow there, have seen just one place with some right in our neighborhood.  It is funny the bees take a little while to find them but now in the late afternoon there are LOTS of bees forcing them open just enough to crawl into the flower!  You can see them inside and hear them buzzing!  Our neighbor has 200 hives so we are happy to have all these wonderful pollinators around us.  They winter them in Texas.  But with the drought there wonder if they will be looking elsewhere this year.  I know the honey is delicious!

Annie, what an amazing flowers!!! I have never heard of them, I will search for some seeds of them.

Thanks for all the respons on my flowers. They didn't gave a good idea from my garden at the moment, because it's a real mess. Luckily I could find a few flowers in bloom.
I'm thinking about next year and collecting lots of seeds.

OH Aafke I hope you CAN find some seeds because they smell heavenly. They only come out each evening and then done by mid morning.  If you don't remove each bloom they will form a spiney seed ball and there are THOUSANDS in there to sprout!!  They are perennial and we love them.  Good luck!

I love the pictures of your moonflowers.
It looks to me as the datura innoxia .I saw them in spain a couple of years ago and I took a seedball.I have tried to grow them.But I'm not patient enough and it didn't work.I have also ordered them by marktplaats/market place , where people try to sell all kind of things.But no luck.Datura/Brugmansia is one of my favorits.

I had not been familiar with the Datura Innoxia, but a friend who has extensive gardens gave me a little piece of one, and it has become a rather large bush :-)  Many flowers every night, and now those spiny balls :-)
I have also grown Brugmansias, but they are really not happy being brought inside for the winter.  And having to keep them isolated from the cats is no fun either.

I'm not a very good gardener but I love what little I have. These are my roses, first year they bloomed so big! I don't even feed them. Bad me.

My sister in Rochester counts her moon flowers too, Annie. I get an almost-daily report when they are in bloom.

Donna, you're roses are very beautiful, you can bring them to a show!!! See you have a green thumb!

OK, I'll play...

Here are our glorious sweet peas - wish you could all experience their exotic aroma! Nothing like all the things Aafke has, since we only succeeded at potatoes and onions this year. Beans a total flop. But I can pick sweet peas every few days! I am going for the potager look next year... assuming My Digger gets out there and - uh - digs! We have an endless supply of good ole farmyard muck around here, plus our own compost. So all we need now is some cooperative weather... totally absent in the Summer of 2011.

OH Donna I LOVE the roses!  As big as they are probably good thing you DON'T feed them!  I wish I could talk hubby into letting me have some but they can be a chore to care for some times.  I have a little scrub rose bush that is taking off and really doing great this year.

Carol in WV, I don't do anything with mine over the winter except to cut them all the way down.  I also leave a couple seed balls to dump around the main stem, just to make sure I have more next year.  I wish there was a way to send some seeds out to all you gardeners!

I guess it is some OC coming out in me to count them!  Just can't help it sometimes!  LOL!

The Annual vine ones attract the Hummingbird Moth, a most interesting creature...

MAK, I will ask my sister re seeds for the Moon Flowers... they should be at that stage now. She is north of the city, so who knows re the soil, but you could try. I think hers is quite sandy. Anyone else?? I think once they get going, the GO!

And MAK - remember to add your own to the collection of floral garden pix!
