I'll let my pictures and report in this KGallery explain what we saw this weekend. So many things happened the visit by a pair of Peregrines to downtown Rochester today and a visit with a Snowy Owl in Downtown Rochester. It doesn't get much better than that.
Thanks for the assist...

Great report and pics Carol

Here is a link to some additional pics I took from today.  As to the pair of Peregrines flying around Kodak Tower, I am pretty sure the female had a silver USFW band (can't say it was not Beauty), and the male appears to have a purple USFW band.   :o   Keep your eyes to the skies.

Great photos and story Carol et al. Very cool to just stumble upon the Snowy Owl. Terrific pic of the little Screech Owl too. They may even use that Wood Duck box as their nest! Here in Toronto they rebond/pair up this time of year. Watch and Listen at night if thats an option.
Looking forward to later this month!

So maybe it was only the 2 and not 3? Was 3 ever spotted at the same time? Oy, the plot may thicken. A purple band again. It's pretty quiet now on the cam but we'll see what the day brings. Thanks Dana, great pics of the Snowy and male falcon.

Brian says he was sure he saw 3 at once, but I never did.  So, we'll continue to watch and report what we see.

Sorry to report that the downtown Snowy Owl is deseased.  The owl was spotted near noon on Monday in the exact same location as seen on Sunday, but it was no longer sitting upright. GVAS was contacted and the snowy was retrieved.

It was given to our local expert who monitors the Snowy Project and bands these birds when they migrate south from the arctic.  It was relayed back to us that the snowy was an unbanded adult female maybe 6-7 years old. There were no outward signs of injury and may have suffered some kind of trauma.

So sad...Fly free beautiful bird.

Very sad and very sorry. What a beautiful girl. Hard to tell if there is a problem. Thanks Joyce.  :crying: It pays to monitor them just in case.
