Title: The World Center for Birds of Prey
Post by: Donna on 03-Jun-12, 07:28:29 PM
We have even more babies! Here are our 2 newest avian ambassadors, 13-day old Aplomado Falcon chicks. They are both male. Right now, they cannot be seen or handled except by one staff person. They will remain in quarantine for another week or two because of the risk of disease transmission from other birds. At this age, their immune system is not developed well enough to fight infection.

We have even more nestlings now! These two Aplomado Falcon chicks are just over 2 weeks old. One is male and one is female, and we are still deciding what to name them. They will be wonderful ambassadors for The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey

Look at them now!! Adorable

At 26 days old (today), the Aplomado chicks figured out how to get out of their plastic pan, which had been serving as an artificial nest. Such fun exploring!

What a face.
