Title: Transit of Venus Tuesday -- next one is in 2117. Post by: dale on 04-Jun-12, 02:18:28 AM I saw the last one near Cape Town, SA. It was cool.
Here is a site to find the times for your exact location. http://transitofvenus.nl/wp/where-when/local-transit-times/ (http://transitofvenus.nl/wp/where-when/local-transit-times/) **Do NOT attempt to view without eclipse glasses (the cheap paper ones are fine if they're CE certified)!!!! http://venustransit.nasa.gov/transitofvenus/ (http://venustransit.nasa.gov/transitofvenus/) Not that there's all that much to see, it'll just be a black dot. It was a big deal in the 18th century but today it's not the 18th century. I'll wander out with my eclipse shades and try to get an urban view, maybe with a kestrel in it. Nice day for a walk in any case and there are sure to be rabbits and if I'm lucky a skunk or possum. A big city rat would make my day more than the Transit, but I'm more likely to see the Transit, so I will take what I can get. |
