The juvies was attack by an intruder. One of the three did not survive to her wounds. Tne intruder returns again this morning.

That is sad.  :crying:

It was actually the mother and siblings that killed the 3rd chick. Watch all the videos and you will see.  :(

Boy attacked Storks

Yesterday we could witness a seemingly sudden attack by an unknown adult stork on the three youngsters in the Spring Experience-the-nest. Two of the three boy held himself as dead, what a good defense technique. The third young, however, did attempt to curl up, and got the full brunt of the adult stork. The cub was hard on the head and neck pecked and grabbed by the neck. After several minutes the adult stork lost his interest and left. Since then, the conscious young clearly excited, while the other two youngsters seem to have no problems. What's going on with the excited young we do not know, as well as the precise cause of the unknown adult so amok in the nest. In any case the two uninjured boy saw their chance, and fell to the battered young. This has a reason: what if the young dies, then the other two remaining boy there advantage. The food need only be divided in two stomachs. That means they are a lot stronger for the long trip to Africa, and that their survival is greater.
 
What next for the wounded young? That is conjecture. From a distance you can not see how bad the injuries are. It can take two directions: the young, restores and flies off, or the young will die. Mak, Nic is right, that was an intruder that killed the baby. Here it's back again and the kids are hissing at it. Where the heck are mom and dad when this happened? OMG, how awful!!

Well here's my answer:

Danger is true ...
This afternoon around 12:30 we witnessed a major event at the storks, the mother bird picks up a young and throws it out of the nest.

We have seen this before on stork nests. As a young parent birds (no longer) found viable, then they kill it. The remaining boy have thus more likely to survive: there are fewer birds to feed and protect. Furthermore saved a weak young long (er) suffer.

A stork must be very fit to stand on their own. After fledging should he collect food. He must be able to defend themselves. He needs to make the south. Pull in autumn A journey full of dangers: lack of food, heavy (from downpours to heat), electricity pylons, hunters, etc. Only when he has survived three years he powerful enough to start a family themselves.

Not only powerful, but also decisive. So we will have to assess. Occurrence of the parent bird Nevertheless, it is very to to see for young and old. The clip is a warning: "nasty images", you can choose for yourself whether or not you want to view.

Finally, I can tell you that the young immediately after the occurrence of the soil is achieved. It was already deceased by the fall of 12 meters. The body is examined and the young stork had no food (or other residues) in the crop.
