Title: Cryptic Forest Falcon
Post by: Donna on 19-Aug-12, 03:48:57 PM
  Not from article.

We observed a pair of Cryptic Forest-Falcons calling at each other yesterday morning. The birds came close to one another and then copulated for some 2 seconds. Perhaps is the first time anyone records this rare-to-see event. This species has been described in 2002 and very little is known about its habits. We got marginally acceptable photographs, but good enough for the record. A tapir bathing in the river, finding another pair of Cryptic Forest-Falcons, and seeing an adult Ornate Hawk-Eagle soaring from one of the canopy towers at Cristalino Jungle Lodge where today's highlights.
