Title: Pelicans in view in Google's satellite images
Post by: Patti from Kentucky on 03-Dec-12, 11:20:36 PM
A fellow on my Ky Bird list discovered, when browsing some Google satellite images, that a giant flock of wintering American White Pelicans is visible!

This is on Lake Barkley, in far western Kentucky.  They don't nest here, but come down to spend the winter.  If you follow the link below, and start zooming in...the green arrow points to a large flock of pelicans on the water, and you'll see long strings of the birds in flight, and another huge group on a sand bar on the right side of the map.

Hopefully this works...

I thought it was pretty cool!

Wow Patti, that is terrific!  Really a lot of pelicans.
That was a good eye to see so many.  Thanks so much.
