45 inches seems low for New York State, unless you're strictly talking about one day totals.  Five or six years ago Buffalo had a storm that dropped 70 inches, but that may have been over a couple of days time.

I lived in Buffalo for five years. I don't think the blizzards and snowfall of 1977 have yet to be surpassed. Oh, that was a terrible year for me.  I was doing my internship. The snow never stopped. The city was shut down for weeks. President Jimmy Carter even visited. I have never returned to Buffalo after leaving in 1981.
