Title: Re: Shooting of owls OK'd to protect endangered species Post by: AlisonL on 03-Feb-13, 04:13:37 PM I don't think this supposed solution makes any sense. And why did they wait until there were only 10 Spotted Owls left in the wild to attempt to do anything? Unfortunately, this total disregard for wildlife has been characteristic of this government.
Title: Re: Shooting of owls OK'd to protect endangered species Post by: patsy6 on 04-Feb-13, 08:05:26 AM Where I live, in New York State on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, the Department of Environmental Conservation has been shooting domestic ducks for several years in order to lessen the impact of particular diseases in the wild duck population. I know that the ultimate goal is a good thing, but it breaks my heart every time I hear a gunshot. And I agree, this type of action seems counterproductive and shouldn't be part of any long-term solution to endangered species issues.
