Title: Re: Russian meteor Post by: dale on 15-Feb-13, 01:54:42 PM I've watched a number of those Chelyabinsk videos in their raw form, where you can hear everything people are saying. Profanity aside, it's clear that people were, as a rule, fairly sure that this was just the beginning..."the 'most interesting' is yet to come..." i.e., that it had been some sort of military attack. A meteorite wouldn't have come to mind, since we don't have any sense of what that looks like, and there were these contrail-like tracks across the sky. I guess there were plenty of older people who were sure it was the end of the world. I can't imagine how scary it was.
Title: Re: Russian meteor Post by: Dumpsterkitty on 15-Feb-13, 06:30:55 PM I can't imagine what I might think, though I might actually have thought meteor. The past few weeks I've seen reports of a close call meteor arriving around the end of the week. When I first heard the reports this morning that's the first thing I thought of...piece broke off the main meteor. The main one went by this morning. I did just hear on the news that it was just a coincidence...the 2 meteors were coming from opposite directions.
