Title: Amazing Spiderman 2 to be Filmed in Downtown Rochester in May

Don't know if this is something to be concerned about or not, but some car chase scenes for "The Amazing Spiderman 2" will be filmed along Main Street west of the Genesee River in Rochester during the first two weeks of May. That's just one block north of the nestbox. The below clip tells more about it and shows several favorite falcon spots. Car chase scenes tell me the action will be on the ground, which is good. Several hundred people are involved in the filming, and some 3,000 hotel room nights have been booked.

I saw this advertised on the noon news today. They are looking for extras. My concern is that they chose Rochester because of TSB's gothic, beautiful Art Deco look. I hope they don't plan on anyone "scaling TSB".

We're supposed to be a stand-in for New York City, so I'm hoping that means they're going to keep the cameras and the action at street level, where we might look a bit like NYC, and not up in the air, where we don't look like it at all. And I certainly wouldn't want to tangle with Beauty or Dot.ca, especially during May. :no:

If they were to involve the Times Square Building in the filming, they'd have to speak with that building's facilities manager. He's well aware of the pefas, and I'm sure he'd lay down the law.

Nope. They are staying on ground level on Main Street. No more concern to the falcons than the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Thanks for posting, Jeanne. As a regular RTS bus rider who has to cross Main Street twice a day on work days, I can tell it's going to be an adventure trying to get get to and from work for those ten days!

And the media pics are rolling in! Rebecca Leclair is on the roof of the First Federal building checking out all of the action for filming of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. She says the cars are being brought in now for the big chase scene.

I think that with the appropriate framing and editing, plus a healthy dose of digital effects, the scenes shot this week will be indistinguishable from the ones shot in NYC.

All cars on the set were placed there by the movie crew. I read somewhere that they offered $3000 to some local car owners to use their cars on the set with the provision that they might get banged up.

There will be no #SpideyRoc filming on Saturday May 4 but Main St. will be closed from Plymouth Ave. to State St. starting tonight at 9 p.m., continuing through Saturday and early Sunday morning. Here's the map.

This could be interesting. Tomorrow afternoon the intersection of Broad and Exchange will be closed to traffic for at least one block each direction. The Times Square nest box is located at this intersection. Will the film crew put on a show for Beauty and Dot.Ca (and our cameras)?
