Sad news about the Providence peregrine falcon fledglings...
We are very sad to report that 2 of the 3 Providence peregrine falcon fledglings have collided with a building. Only 1 survived. It is currently being cared for and evaluated at the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island   :(

I'm trying to obtain more info about the falcon accident, if there was an eye-witness, etc. I will share what I learn. I'm wondering how they BOTH hit a building... I've seen them playing together and locking talons... maybe they got stuck together and crashed? I've seen that happen to eagles before.

Some good news - I just saw both parents and the one remaining juvenile, all in flight together... and one parent delivered dinner to the happy youngster...

From fb

Update:  Here's an update on the peregrine fledgling from Born To Be Wild Nature Center. I was told the lucky survivor ate a quail for dinner - I bet it tasted a lot better than city pigeons. Hopefully he can be reunited with his family soon.

Saw this on the fb page where the Providence juvie is being treated.

Can't we all just get along? The falcon and the hawk have formed an unusual friendship during their stay at BTBW. They even eat together.   :o  :handshake:

Seems to me that other species are always teaching humans how they should behave  :handshake:

What a beautiful day for a family reunion! The injured/recovered juvenile peregrine falcon was released back into the wild in Providence today where his family was waiting for him. Thanks to Born To Be Wild Nature Center and Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island for giving him a second chance!
