Title: Fledge Watch 2013
Post by: Bobbie Ireland on 23-Jun-13, 08:40:19 AM
Anyone have an idea when these little ones might fledge? They certainly seem eager to make their next move.

They have a couple weeks left Bobbie.

The rule book says 35 days is the absolute earliest. Usually more in the 37-44 day range with the boys going first.

So...

Baron     30-Jun   7-Jul
Rosetta    1-Jul   8-Jul
Voyager    2-Jul   9-Jul

I am betting these youngsters go earlier.

Please do we have a Fledge Watchers' schedule set up for this year?   And when is the first date we can realistically expect one of them to fledge?   Although watching them wandering around the perimeter, I worry that one could fall off sooner than expected!   I'm remembering that Sacajawea's first excursion was more of a fall than a fledge, and that she walked around a lower level of the Kodak tower for quite a while before she was able to fly back up to the nest box!

Moved to the appropriate topic.

An official watch schedule has not been published. However, this is what we expect:

Do you have any volunteers for fledge watch? It's down to the wire and nothing yet! I'm getting nervous!

wishing every fledge watcher (in any city) who reads this --
the best of weather, watching, luck, good eyas behavior and - last but not least - plenty of other watchers posted around the landscape (because we don't fly)!!

Thanks very much Dale!  EVERY watcher is equal and important.  Some of us have been doing this for well over a decade.  Wouldn't give it up for anything.

So I would like to thank ALL the Watchers that gave up some of their 4th of July Holiday today.  So far

Dan S
Kathy O
Linda (Brave Heart)
Dana
Lou
Lisa McK
Brian H
Joyce
MAK
and me Carol P.

I'm sure more will be out by the end of the day.  More Watchers to add to the list of awesome folks that volunteer their time to watch over these beautiful creatures.  Thanks everyone!
