Gonna poop on your Pronunciation Parade, there, DG - it is "SLAWN-chuh". Put an "S" in front of "LAWN" and you got it! It means "health"... which, at one stage, was an aim of the day, as all the pubs were shut. Really. And the only place to get a drink was at the Dog Show. We went to lots of Dog Shows...

NOTHING in the Irish language looks like the way it should be pronounced! Thus it is that I can say about 3 things... none of which are useful in general conversation. Ya done good there, DG!

No one ever pronounces "Shaky" right either.
