Title: Northern Royal Albatross webcam, Taiaroa Head, New Zealand 2016
Post by: AlisonL on 31-Jan-16, 02:28:16 PM
This new webcam follows a northern royal albatross breeding colony at Taiaroa Head, near Dunedin, New Zealand. The cam came online on Tuesday of last week.

There are 29 fertile nests this year. When the first chick hatched earlier in January, the Dunedin City Council flew a "Happy Birthday" flag from the civic center to celebrate the event.

The time at Taiaroa Head is 18 hours ahead of Rochester.

You're welcome, Kris! In the pic below the little chick is peeking out from under the side of the parent, with beak open.

There used to be a webcam at this site years ago; I watched it for several years, and then it went away. Glad to see a cam here again.
