Title: Southwest Florida Eagle Cam 2017-2018
Post by: AlisonL on 11-Sep-17, 10:15:15 PM
An update today on the Fort Myers nest after Hurricane Irma had passed through the area:

Happy to report H & M's nest tree survived the hurricane winds of Irma and is still standing. Many limbs and foliage lost but it could have been much worse.

No sign of the love birds yet but they are smart and know more than us when it comes to survival in the wild. We are hopeful for their return to the area soon.

Thanks for your continued support and prayers. We have a lot of recovery work ahead but will continue to prep for streaming as we can.

Thank you for the beautiful picture of Harriet and M .

You are very welcome, Tapper Gal!

Harriet and M15 were back in the same tree a few minutes ago:

I have not seen them at the nest recently, but the nest is coming along well.

Harriet laid her second egg at 5:36 p.m. today. Congratulations to Harriet and M15!

The cameras have been down most of the day and appear to be still down, so no photos of the new egg.

E10 has hatched! Confirmation from the site:

E10 has hatched, 8:54pm, 12-26-17, we will still be checking to see if we can tell when they were completely out of the shell.

Welcome to the world, E10!

Love the video, Kris, especially the way M15 tiptoed into the nest to meet his new little one, and that he was allowed to take over for a short time. Thank you!

E11 has hatched! Welcome to the world, little one, and congratulations to Harriet and M15 on their two brand new hatchlings!

E10 was not exactly helping E11 to hatch. At one point E10 appeared to have one tiny foot on E11's head. At that moment Harriet decided it was time to feed E10, who has a good appetite.

Update on Ft Myers nest after Hurricane Ian

The nest tree is still standing but unfortunately the actual nest & cameras are no longer. Waiting for the Eagles to return and hopefully rebuild. We will update everyone when we know more.
