Title: Banding in San Francisco
Post by: Paul Hamilton on 05-May-10, 10:02:12 AM
Glenn Nevill took a lot of pictures of the banding (http://raptor-gallery.com/2010_05_03/index.htm)   a few days ago.  I've visited this nest site several times in the past while seeing the San Francisco branch of my family, so it has always been special to me.

spectacular documentation of a banding! thanks so much. I love the one where they are first approaching the scrape and one of the birds is backed up into the corner, displaying as much ferocity as she can muster.

Super great pics Paul! Thank you so much.

A splendid photo-story!

With each image, esp of the parents, being more spectacular than the next, I love the very first one of the eyases with that "Ahhhh, Jeeeeez!" look on their faces.

Isn't it amazing that these funny little Fluffer-Nutters grow into such magnificence?

Slainte!
Bobbie

Paul, thanks for posting this link.  Glen Nevill has recorded many families of eyases over the years.  Glen Stewart of the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group did the banding.  He had a busy day.  He had first banded the San Jose eyases.  He reached that site by rappelling down from the roof of that building.  This one was easier to reach!  Both peregrine families are much beloved by Bay Area residents and have been featured in all the local media.  We are so lucky!
