Title: Fulham and Barnes Falcons
Post by: Donna on 07-Oct-12, 10:15:52 PM
This one is the second one that had to be rescued last year, he simply didn't want to let go of the glove...

Charlie the mom bathes in puddles!  (So do some of the Rochester watchers)!!!
Bathing
All done

This camera is streaming live images of a pair of Peregrine Falcons who share most of their time between Fulham (in particular Charing Cross Hospital) and Barnes (London Wetland Centre). Charlie is the falcon and was the first one to settle in 2007. Tom is the tiercel (male).

From: Leisa Goodall "Those birds have a death wish. Just been out front making one hell of a racket they then dive bombed Fulham palace rd just missing cars that were thankfully stopped at a red light otherwise we would have had 2 bodies"
Wow! Some drivers might have had a shock, if they noticed! What time was that, Leisa? At 10:20 I took this photo of the whole family briefly together (lasted less than a minute, AK had gone by the time I got across the road for a better shot)

On the positive side at least the egg served a purpose and wasn't just wasted!  ;)

Tom and Charlie are great parents and are so cute with Will! Sadly for Falcons and followers, Charing Cross Hospital is in danger of being demolished, from what I've read.

Will is pushed off the ledge by an intruder, he had no choice but to fledge! :(

Quote
Where Will 'fledges'... He is in the box at the start of this clip. Once I found him and knew where he was I noticed you can actually see him land on the 12th floor at the end. I think you'll agree with me that the actions of that other peregrine (a female I'd say) were less than friendly

It was a mistake:

Still the one lonely egg this morning... Which explains why I wasn't really sure and why I could only see 1 egg last night!  From fb

As you can see, still the one egg this morning. Charlie is fine though, currently having breakfast brought by Tom about 20 mins ago. I am starting to wonder if she didn’t lay the 2nd egg on the cooling tower by mistake when she spent most of her day there on Monday.

 :surprise:

2nd egg has arrived, a week after the 1st. So maybe she did lay one out of the nest the other day!

And then there were 3! I am still under shock and have yet to calculate the gap exactly but it's about 5.5 days, Charlie laid a 3rd egg at 5:44 this morning. She'd been tight as a tight thing since, denying Tom brooding time, so I have only just had the visual proof of it...

That's a long time in between eggs!!
