Thank you, Tracy and everyone for doing this! I got teary when I read that she was looking for something familiar. Sweet baby! It's interesting that Kendal is unsure of what to do. Ahem, we did see that last year with a falcon we know here There is something about Quest-- she has just garnered attention everywhere she has gone. So glad that now she has arrived home

And anyone else..Cant forget to prominently name Tracy, she has been observing, liasing and built the nestbox!! Stay tuned, honest a post is coming. With most hands in the field,we must wait patiently for news.
BigFrank, thank you so much! We so appreciate all of you! Tracy, thank you for taking care of this box and checking on Quest! After visiting Toronto and seeing how spread out all the nest sites are and how tall the buildings are, I marvel at all of you!

Quest was the BIG girl that year. I even wrote that on the name chart during banding. And then there was the day she fledged! I left for a bit and when I returned, she was on a building diagonally across from Kodak (she had averted a near rescue when she was near the ground on the side of Kodak). She kept pacing. Then she took off near the gorge and as we walked in that direction, we came across Susan B- walking on a parking lot. That was a rescue! what a day!

Oh, boy. I really hate to report this. You all know that I have been in contact with some very nice folks from Harlequin since Quest made her appearance. I just read the newest article, and it looks like what Mark said in the article was proven correct. I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at approximately 3:50 pm, Quest was seen pushing her egg off of the ledge. This is so sad, but maybe, in the long run, it's for the best. I hope that Mark is able to get the nest tray out onto the ledge tomorrow, before she attempts to lay her 2nd egg. First time parents of any species can have a hard time and Peregrines are no exception. I really do believe that she will continue to lay eggs and that she & Kendal will be successful. It's sad but she may suspect that something was wrong with the egg. And Mark is awesome- he knows falcons. I hope they can get the tray there.
