Last night Don and I attended a lecture on Crows...okay, so what does that have to do with the Peregrine Fund you ask. Well, turns out the speaker had worked for the Peregrine Fund in Idaho and was introduced by the director of a local nature preserve who also had worked for the Peregrine Fund. Small world!
The big thing we learned was that those working in the Peregrine Fund team consider the world of birds as being divided into two: raptors and raptor food! Suzanne
Further proof that sometimes a sense of humor is necessary

More inappropriate behavior in public just now by our favorite pair of falcons atop Mercury.
This has to be one of my most favorite posts! Thanks, Mark!!!!! I don't know what we are going to do with them; they have no sense of decorum

That's a very good question Margaret and I don't know the answer. It was definitely supposed to fall off after a couple years. We can only hope that it does now. That would be perfect timing! I wondered the same thing, Carol, about the transmitter...if it would hinder mating activity or not. If copulation has been seen, I guess it doesn't. My understanding of the transmitter is that it would fall off before this. It's going on three years. Is this a record for a transmitter being of a Pefa? It's been wonderful for us to be able to track Quest for these almost three years. Are there pefas out there wearing these backpacks for a longer time? Just curious.
Carol, when you guys saw her at Pickering, Kendal was with her?? I hope this doesn't hinder her! As a side note, a friend of mine always says her babies will be born with little transmitters! Won't happen (thankfully) but it lends itself to an interesting visualization! (Or a Shaky picture)!

I have very exciting news for all the followers of Quest that have been concerned about her for the past few days. Your friends up here in the Great North of Canada have sought and found her!! I work in Toronto for the Canadian Peregrine Foundation and we received news today, and confirmed it, that Quest could very well be nesting on a low rise office tower here in Toronto. One of our volunteers is on-site right now and has confirmed her band numbers and that she indeed has a suitor and a ledge picked out. To read the full story and stay in touch with updates, check out our website www.peregrine-foundation.ca and look under international news. Tracy, thank you so much for this wonderful news! We are ever grateful to you and the folks at Canadian Peregrine for this - and all of your support through the years! This is fabulous! We have so hoped that Quest would find a mate before the transmitter stopped! And on top of that, she has been seen!!!
