Thanks so much, Janet!  I sent an email but I may call tomorrow so I can actually speak to someone.  I googled the arborist who was mentioned in the article but the google search says he is in syracuse.  That's weird.

I will keep you posted! Thank you so much!

1758  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: It is So Hot .... on: 06-Jul-10, 07:47:14 PM

Kidding aside, today is already an altert day here in the DC region, please remember to keep yourselves hydrated and check on your senior neighbors and parents.  Rich is planning "lite" days all week.  AND remember, when it finally does rain, the roads are going to be nice and oily from the lack of rain.

Be careful out there, please?

I'm having to get up in the mornings to get my running in before the heat (and bad air) builds too much...and I am NOT a morning person...makes for one cranky Patti!

Patti, if it makes you feel a little bit better, it is ugly out there at 4 AM!  Remember, we have that humidity thing on the Bay, which isn't the same as Louisville humidity.  There IS Good news in this!!!  My hair is loving the moisture!  Ok, I'm reaching here, but I'm looking for that silver lining.  Please be carefull Patti because it is ugly even before the sun comes up.

I think you have it a little hotter there...our highs this week are only in the mid to upper 90's.  The humidity is rather nasty, but tomorrow morning by the time I finish my run at 8:00 am, it will "only" be 78 with a heat index of 86 (69% humidity).  That won't be fun, but I have a high-tolerance for heat, and it's only a short run, so I should be fine.  Last weekend when I got in a nine-mile run I got up at 6:00 am to do it.   Tongue

OMG Patti! My feat is walking from my car to work.  I was thinking today how a few years ago, I went to WAshington, DC (to see Tai Shan) and I was really out of sorts with the heat and humidity.  I have zero tolerance!  Good for you for running!
1759  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Tuesday Afternoon 7/6/10 - Brian H Reports on: 06-Jul-10, 07:44:52 PM
I think we might have the olympics of falcon watching here.

We may have to nominate Carol also for endurance watcher of the month ! She did 15 hours one day and I think 10 the next.  We were saying that it was a good thing we were able to get ahold of Jemison or she would have been there all night watching him.   2thumbsup

Brian was barefoot on hot pavement yesterday morning. I was hiding in the shade by comparison Grin

I don't know how he did it on the south ave garage.  It is so exposed to the sun!  Good going, Brian! clap

Suzanne,  the air show is this weekend but it is in geneseo so it won't be as bad as when the Blue Angels came.  What a nightmare that was.  Such great precision flying to watch but the babies were so new to flying.

I told my neighbor, I was there when it happened rofl OMG!

So touching, Carol, I think it says so much especially today as we watch so many environmental things happen.  and Janet, I wrote to the environmental services dept here about your suggestion of grafts.

I found it touching that a tree mattered so much to people.  Very sweet

I used to like airshows until I started watching (and worrying about) newly fledged peregrines.

A news report said that planes will be practicing at the Rochester airport tonight starting at about 7:30.

So more loud noises for our peregrines!

:wave:Callidora was on the Kodak Office launchpad all nite and she didn't even flinch when two jets went screaming right over her head. So don't worry so much. She's fine. handshake

Thanks, MAK!!!   I was headed out to be with you all and got unexpected company:(

Glad she did ok with the planes!  How funny that she found Kodak-- visiting her great grandparents site!

1768  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: "Melting" Hydrangea Flowers on: 05-Jul-10, 04:12:09 PM
My hydrangea never made it into the ground.  I got a plant from a friend and it was fine for a while but then just lost its flowers.  I think it is now dead though I kept watering it in hopes.  Are they hard to keep alive?

I realize that I do not have a green thumb, by the way Wink
