Hi Ei,
Very nice map - the formal name of the pedestrian bridge where the watchers hung out is the Pont de Rennes.
Thanks for putting this together.

I believe the white feather in Archer's scapulars is a permanent identifier. When it disappeared last year, it was due to molting. Since it reappeared this year, it is apparently a feather which will always grow in white.
It's a great way to identify Archer!

They look like female Pine Warblers, I'd say. This link takes you to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's ID page for that species. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, there's a pic of a female for comparison.
Nice little birds.

Dear Anne:
It was with sadness that I read of your father's passing. I remember his interesting posts from years past.
I was also interested to see that your dad shared a birthday with my mother, who was 94 when she passed away. Seems if you're born on 8 December, you're destined to live a good long time!
Mother taught me as a child to watch the birds at the feeder in the pear tree on our small farm. I still have many of her watercolors and pastels, most of which depict birds. So I guess I come by my abiding interest in birds naturally. I'll always be grateful to her for that.
May your happy memories sustain you through this difficult time, and the light of Christmas bring you hope.
Marcia
