 While Ken Lockwood was working with one of his program hawks at Eagle Valley Raptor Center a kestral came out of the sky and landed on the perch. Apparently he had eyes only for the rat being eaten by the hawk. Uh, oh! Happily, the kestral realized his mistake and got away.

So, the unnaturally purple squirrel may be the canary in the coal mine. 

Krish Pillai, a professor at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, commented that "This is not good at all. That color looks very much like Tyrian purple. It is a natural organobromide compound seen in molluscs and rarely found in land animals. The squirrel has too much bromide in its system possibly from all the bromide laced frack water it's been drinking. I would raise the alarm. This could mean bladder cancer for humans down the road."

I know it's the weekend but I'm hoping someone gets some good news about Beauty.  And where is Unity?

Been watching the cams thinking I would see Beauty. Such a routine for me waiting for her on Mercury. No other visitors to the nest yet. Beauty is big and strong so who knows what damage she inflicted on the others! Maybe they beat the "wind" out of there.

I know they were doing it in 4 different locations , at least thats what I heard on the news but I don't know where they were

We have to remember, Beauty was near all the Fireworks not too long ago and on the 4th of July, so she was pretty used to loud noises. Who knows what happened to her. It's just a shame.

I am so upset right now. Wondering why she has not been to Mercury the past few days. Was it a battle, was she chasing her prey? So many questions, so many prayers for our girl. Bless you Beauty, heal and come back to us!   Was that Beauty Carol saw yesterday, who knows.

I saw this yesterday on the streaming video page.  



I looked through the still archive & didn't see her. Could have been a quick stop on Mercury. I'm leaving a message there.

I check the cams all day from morning until bedtime, I didn't see her yesterday.

Oh my gosh!  I hope she will be ok.  Thank goodness she was found and brought for help
