I hear Hail!!

Technically U arent wrong,Merlins are the medium sized falcon for most of the eastern US. Kestrel,Merlin Peregrine by order of size. In Canada we also get the supersized falcon,a Gryfalcon. Our girl Remington is about the size of a Redtailed Hawk.

My first thought was peregrine juvie that's why I said I needed to brush up on my falcons. Thanks BF!! Where do Merlins nest? Trees, nest box? I don't think I ever saw a nest cam for Merlins! Are they not as popular as Peregrines?

Neat idea, my squirrels are total glommers, they hang upside down on the suet feeders. I don't know how they get what they get but they do. I had to twist tie mine as they sure know how to separate them. Had many a squirrel walk off with a whole block of suet. The birds just sit there and watch. 

It's a Merlin I guess. I need to brush up on my falcons!  They look a lot alike.

Oh that poor dad. Amazing they even found him. Pete's an awesome man and I know he's doing the best he can at this point. I do hope they find a nest for the little ones. Thanks Kris.

CPF Postmaster Reports:

Well, the male peregrine from the Ogdens. bridge was found dead in East Aurora, N.Y., (near Buffalo) on the roof of a school. It appears he slammed into the heating unit on the roof and died from head injuries. Sounds like he may have in pursuit of prey and didn’t swerve when he needed to. It is so sad. He was only 5. It will be interesting to see what happens this season.
